County Cup Football
Bredon Hill Academy Year 6 boys' football team battled their way to a victory in the U11s County Cup Semi Final on Monday afternoon
In a hard fought game from the off, Bredon were finding it hard to get into the game against a very good Hagley Primary School team who passed, moved and showed skills beyond their age group. Despite this, Bredon took the lead through a good finish from Shay Green to make it 1-0. This stayed the same until 5 minutes into the second half when Hagley scored from close range after some great build up play. They then took the lead to make it 2-1 with another well created goal that involved some really slick build up play. Travis Reid in goal was outstanding and saved everything he could get to and really kept us in the game at times. However, the Bredon players all deserved credit for they determination effort and never give up approach. This paid off when Sebastian Holley won a ball on the edge of the box before squaring for Shay Green who once again slotted in from close range (2-2). This was pretty much the last kick of the game. With the light fading, a penalty shoot out would decide the final outcome. All four of the first penalty takers for Bredon scored and Travis saved 2 of their first 4 penalties putting the result out of question. Well done to the boys involved and good luck in the final.
